Help to ID

Hi folks,

I'll need help to ID the female apisto on the right...

Is it a bitaeniata female?

It's hard to say from the quality of the photo, but I would say that it is a female A. agassizii.

Sorry for the poor pics...I hope the following 2 pics would be of better help...

This female exhibits 1 black spot in the center of the body, sometimes 1 or 2 lateral lines along the body, caudal fin has faint vertical markings...

Its was bought as a female of Elizabethae "Monte Cristo" but looking at it, it doesn't look like it....

It kinda looks like a female pertensis?? Would appreciate ya help on this, thanks MIke!!:biggrin:

I agree. In the first new photo it does look like A. bitaeniata. Do I see faint rows of spots on the tail of this "female"? If so, it is a male!

im new at apistos but that looks exactly like the agassizi female i got last night.

Yes mike! there are some patterns on the tail....its about 4cm now, there's no black markings on the ventral fin too....I'm really confused with its true identity

Since it shows the abdominal band below the lateral band, and it has a pattern on the caudal fin, I am fairly certain that it is a young male A. bitaeniata.

I hope its a pure mix-up....

This guy is showing colors on his dorsal today, starting from the body, its showing layers of blue, yellow and red....and also exhibits clearly 2 lateral bands when he's flaring too :biggrin:
