Help - damn common names - Yellow banded krib

Would appreciate it if anyone knows what the "yellow banded krib" really is.

People seem to "love" to give common names which are generally of no use at all.

Dear Bill,

You got me on this one. A Nigerian yellow color morph of Pelvicachromis taeniatus has a yellow band on the face just below the eye, but I've never heard of this incredible beauty being referred to as a yellow banded krib before.

Yes, I agree with you, common and/or popular names can be most confusing and of little value.

It is P. pulcher. I have seen them at the lfs a lot of times and they go by many different names it all depends on where they got it from.

Yellow Banded Krib

Dear Bill,

Does this "yellow banded krib" have a long snout? I ask because P. humilis is an essentially yellow fish that displays a series of vertical bands on the flanks continuing into the caudal peduncle.
