My planted ten gallon!
As of now, just have cherry shrimp (could get rid of them).
I am open to all suggestions!

Tank is pretty small for most apistogramma; you could probably get away with a single borelli male; and definitely with a. pucallpaensis; I can't think of another small apisto or apisto like fish that would fit. I would not put in a pair of borelli (male and female) in a 10 esp if you don't have a lot of experience in these matters.

I agree, at least when it comes to commonly available species there's little choice.

What are the dimensions of a 10 "gallon"?

Also worth noting that a US gallon is 3.8 litres, an imperial (uk) gallon is 4.5 litres.

In the aquarium hobby you actually only distinguish between Liters in the metric system and US Gallons in, well the US. UK gallons have no significance, except if a beginner calculates themselves.

A standard 10-Gallon is roughly 50x30x30, a long is 60x20x30cm. Give or take, because these are pretty much only standard in the US.

Kind of true I suppose as things sold in the UK are generally in litres (note the correct spelling ;) ).

We still only think about car fuel economy in miles per gallon though.

Thanks for the dimensions. I would say a 60 cm long tank is adequate for any single apisto I've ever kept.

Also you need to consider the width and height of the aquarium when you consider 3 inch fish and take into account depth of substrate et all.

Given the photograph i would not place a cockatoo or mac in that aquarium which are two common species of apsitogramma. Just not enough swimming area. I'm not trying to push borelli but it is one of the smaller species - in all honesty i think you are pushing the limit - they are not super active fishes and are quite passive but for example when i do water changes on my 10 there is only about 4 inches of water when we consider substrate et all and the aquarium is only about 4x the length of the fish.

Can you do it - sure you could put a common pleco in there (and yes a lot of people start gold fishes and common pleco in 10s). For the person who made the post a common pleco is a fish that would normally grow to around 2 feet and while at the state fair gold fishes look nice and small - there is no species of gold fishes that stay small (except for those cramed into a small space where they can't grow normally).

Debatable, in German it's written with -er, and I hang out a lot with Irishmen, Scots and Americans, who all tend to write it the same way. ;)

But what comes through clearly is, we all pretty much agree the tank is borderline too small for most species of Apistogramma.
