It does turn to mud hahah.. i mixed it with regular black sand and it's doing prettayy good..

Great pic abrooks. I did the same as you and mixed it in one of my tanks recently and is doing well but I was thinking of using it alone in another tank. In your opinion, will this work or just become a big mess?

I would never use it without a cap. It may be fine left alone but doing scape work would be a disaster id think.

Nice tank. What are the plants? What type of lights do you use? Do you use CO2?
Thanks, took a while to get there.. co2 at 6 bps, dutch build my led, ludwiga sp. Red., rotala rotundifolia, staur repens up front, downoi, ammania bonsai, cyperus helferi, pogo erectus, ar mini and a little Erio im trying to get going, oh yah..some algae (still a plant)

I've never heard flourite black sand turning to mud what does that mean? I know mum would accumulate on the top if I had poor circulation in the tank but I don't remember turning to mud. I'm planning another tank and was debating a black or natural substrate but if they've change the product from when I used I may have to stay away from flourite substrate.
