One of my pairs of Incas kind of did that also. My original female just layed in a pot, but a diff one I got from a trade used an old dug out hole, and when she laid the eggs, she blocked opening with small pebbles and u could barely see her. It was really cool to see that personality

I'm using playground sand from the local hardware store $4 for a 50 lb bag, and it works great for the plants as well.
