Feeding Borelli babys

I have 5 Borelli at about 3/4". I had them in a 36" 46g with many rocks , caves, and plants for about 2 months now. I rarely see them and they have not grown at all.

I switched them to a 10 gal so I can feed them better/easier.

I feed flake and crumbles. Pet stores are pretty far away and only two chain stores. The mom and pop store that had decent size brine shrimp closed up :(

I can hatch BBS but they are so tiny. How long does it take to grow them up? Will the apisto eat Convict fry? Should I get frozen foods? What other options do I have to grow these guys out.

I hope they are not stunted.

Thanks...Bill

I have found borellii fry to be fairly slow growing. BBS seems best to push them along. Raising the temperature may also help.
I feed powdered flake when they are still smallish and crushed flake and crushed micro pellets later together with the BBS. But, yeah, they are not the fastest growers

What is also an important issue, is water changes.

All fish secrete a anti-growth hormone, you can only get this out of the water by water changes.

Thanks all. They are in a bare 10g now and I can witness them eating now and they see food better on the bare glass.

Fed them newly swimming convict fry today and they really like them.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
