I recent bought two pairs of Nannacara anomala or Golden dwarf cichlid. Never having raised these fish I would appreciate any info anyone can share on spawning these neat little fish.
The Golden-eye Dwarf Cichlid is one of the easier dwarfs to breed. They accept most water values. Females can be very aggressive when they have fry, so make sure the male has somewhere to hide. Brooding instinct is very strong in this species. I once had a female die while brooding fry and the male took on the chore - including the lattice-like brood pattern.
N. anomala are my favorite dwarf. Super easy to breed, fierce parenting, and spawn early (I had 5-6 month old fish spawning). In my experience, they can be a little shy. So I like to add dithers, other than that they are a very fun and easy fish to keep!
