It is known that there are two different species related to
A. Diplotaenia, one is A. Diplotaenia from Rio Negro, Brasil (A128)
another one is A. cf. Diplotaenia Orinoco (from Venezuela) (A129);

I could feel that there are some differences from the publications
BUT i really could not tell precisely. May some friends help point out
the specific points of difference in terms of the fish's appearance for
identification purpose? Thanks much.

Check out this site (Aquarium Mimbon): http://www.mimbon.de/archiv06/zb01.jpg It shows A. cf. diplotaenia Orinoco in its fright pattern. Note the expansion of the vertical bars down into the abdominal area. The 'double band' aso is not as distinct. Actually, the scales between the bands are just darker on A. cf. diplotaenia.

Thanks much Mike. The photo you listed above is an excellent example to
tell the difference!! ^.^
