 Hi All. I posted awhile back about getting a pr of A.cruzi. I wasn't sure if they were male or female since they were so small only an inch and quarter. Well they let me know they were a pair by spawning and I wasn't even trying. I wasn't set up for it I had them in the borellii tank till I got another tank set up. And I was looking for them found one but couldn't find the other one then I saw a head in one of my pots it was the other one. I lifted the pot and there were 35 eggs. I had to remove the eggs from mom because I have pond snails again and they seem not to be able to prevent them from getting into the eggs. Well there are only 6 fiable eggs left rest fungused not sure if they are fully mature yet and this was threir first time. now if I could get my cacatuoides to spawn as freely as my borellii and cruzi I would be a happy camper BTW my borellii is guarding eggs again.LOL Now On to another note Is anybody going to be at the ACA in FT Worth july 21-24 My group the TCA is hosting the ACA this year I was just wondering would like to meet those who are to put face to writings.

Sincerely Curtis

PS: I have about 300+ german blue ram and A.borellii fry 1-5 wks old as of last nite LOL

ACA Convention

Congradulations with your spawning! I am so bummed out that the ACA convention fell on the same weekend as my wedding. Oh well. See ya next year. For those who have been to the convention before, what was the apisto scene like? Is there mostly rift lake fans and few dwarf S A cichlid enthusiasts? Are there a kewl selection of Apistos for auction?

Dave

I won't be there this year, but Jeff Cardwell will be giving a talk at the ASG meeting on collecting in Bolivia, including photos of the dwarf cichlids he collected there. Most ACA conventions have a sizable number of dwarf cichlid hobbyists & dwarf cichlids for sale. Next year I will be in at the Chicago ACA, if I can help it. There will be an excellent speaker on dwarf cichlids.

Excellent!!!! You're gonna be in Chicago next year? I can't wait to hear and talk to you or anyone knowledgable about apistos! I haven't been able to get to any of the other ACA events and am happy to finally hear it will be hosted by the Cichlid association I'm a part of.

MARKED MY CALENDER!!!! would you gracious enough to maybe let me in on what you may be speaking about? or are you not speaking?... I've tried to petition (but realistically more like nagging) the current president on bringing you to speak and shed some light, and spark some interest, on apistos so they're not so feared around this area!!!

Funny you mention that your cruzi spawned, because so did mine!....with a papagei female! She's caring for the eggs right now and I'm waiting for them to hatch. I don't particularily want this to continue though, as I'm big time against hybrids so I'll probably just cull the fry.

Sorry, I'm not a liberty to say who are going to be speakers at the Chicago ACA. Wait until speakers for 2006 are announced at next month's ACA convention. All I can say is that the GCCS & ASG have co-ordinated to have one of the elite dwarf cichlid specialist to be there.

the suspense is killing me!!! I know of Ingo coming to Ohio's Cichlid association some time to talk... soon if not already did... and there was rumors of who i'd be, but just to really hear and get the chance to talk to someone as knowledgable as any of the Experts, such as yourself, would be more than enough to keep me smiling for a while! well, I will definitely keep an ear close to the meetings then.

I'm really surprised about this. Ingo hasn't mentioned this to me. Maybe I'll check with him. I've tried to get him to come to the USA on many occasions, but he doesn't like to travel.

I haven't heard about him traveling at all.. all I know is that he was supposed to come to ohio and I'm not sure on the details but, I believe it was something to do with plecos and maybe some cichlids or so. I was surprised when I heard this about a little over a month ago. It was mentioned all over and throughout the GCCA as some members from affliliated groups came for the annual GCCA Cichlid Classics and some were planning on going but me with my schedule, couldn't make most of the show.
