cockatoo behaviour - please help!!

Hey all,

what does it it mean if my male cockatoo is nipping and tale wipping the female continuously. does he not like her or something? i have fed them live worms to try to entice breeding but it doesnt seem to be working? did the worms turn him nuts?? any ideas?

It appears that the male is actively courting the female. Maybe female is not yet interested in breeding. It should be OK as long as the male doesn't damage the female and she can hide from him.

If thats courting, then im glad im not a fish ha ha. i dont think she has any eggs in her atm so maybe thats the problem?? they used to get along really well when they were the same size but now he's bigger things have changed. i'll keep an eye on them and see how they go.

She probably has a 'headache' :wink:. Cichlid mating behavior can get a bit rambunctious at times. I like to keep a floating ABS pipe at the upper edge of the tank for the female ( or male) to take refuge in when the going gets rough (Out of sight-out of mind). how large is the tank & do you have any 'target' fish?
