Cocatoo goes belly-up. Tank Med advice?

I have had a trio from the LFS for about a month. Each female laid eggs, (then ate them). Bummer. The male was a beautiful yellow-gold, seemed OK last night and this morning, belly-up. The female was in the tank, and seems OK. I bought another male, moved the trio in a different 10 gallon, and have my fingers crossed.

I read somewhere to worm them when you purchase them to avoid internal parasites. What do you do that with, and does anyone else have recommendations for a healthy tank? I am filtering with a whisper 20, in a 10 gallon tank.

% weekly/biweekly water changes?
additives?
other advice?

Thanks,

Randy

Usually domestic strains like yours are not as likely to carry parsites as do wild caught fish. Look in the search engine for "Levamisole" for a worming medication.

Water changes depend on size of tank, feeding regimen, & population density. I try to change 25% of the water each week.

Mike, thanks for your support and input. I will try what is listed. I really like the cockatoos and don't plan on giving up. So many other fish I have had hide all the time, which takes away the enjoyment of watching them. These fish appear to want to see what is staring at them, kind of makes you wonder who has whom conditioned?

Thanks again,

Randy
