currently there are almost 20 tanks in my fish room. i am going to eventually expand to 25 tanks as that is what the space i have available will fit. i am using small pumps that handle 2-4 tanks each. i was talking to ken of www.kensfish.com on sunday about purchasing a linear pump possibly which would cost between $200-$300.

ken said that this pump would be able to handle 25 tanks but is louder that the linear type.

since my fishroom is in the basement noise isn't a big concern. does anyone have any experience with this type of pump? the $67 that it costs seems to good to be true compared to $200-$300.

Couldn't hurt to try i guess. I have a linear pump in my room (didn't you take a look at it when you were over?). I didn't get it from Jehmco, but it was made by the same people that build them for Jehmco, just without the fancy cover. We have plenty of pressure (i think we have 50 or so tanks down there), and it is really quiet.

I use a 1/10 HP turbine blower that has been running 24/7 since I bought it in 1980 with no maintenence. I still have to bleed a lot of air off. More expensive, but I feel it is worth it.

I tried both a linear pump and a blower. The linear pump has good air pressure but not much volume. The blower has lots of volume but low pressure. At the time I had the linear pump I had about 15 tanks. I found the volume of air was not enough. I replace it with a used 1/8 hp blower. Now I have about 25 tanks and have air to spare.
