Can anyone sex my Neolamprolgus brevis?

Hi All,

I've two N.brevis, had them for at least 6 months. No sign of any spawning activity. They live in harmony with no sign of the bigger, obvious male beating up the smaller one.

These pics show the smaller fish looking fatter than normal as they had just had a big meal.

Anyone who can shed any light on the sex of the smaller fish, please let me know. I've not seen any of these since I bought these 2, so not easy to obtain more to get a female.

Shell-dwellers are great fish if you Apisto lovers want to try something new.

Hard to make colors out from the pics but, males should have a more yellowish tip to their dorsal fins, females are white tipped.

Where are you located? N. brevis are not to hard to get, here in LA.

I've had them quite a while now and no action, I'll stick with them and try adding another female if any turn up in the shops.

When I had N.multifasciatus the bred like mad and I soon ended up with a brilliant colony of them. Unfortunately, a broken heater killed them all :frown:
