These fishes are caught in Peru or Columbia.
I bought them as a pair of A. cacatuoides.
Now I know I have two males.
Are they two different color morph cacatu?
A. cacatuoides has many different color morphs in the wild. There will be some variation between specimens in a population, but usually not as extreme as seen in populations of A. agassizii. It is hard to say if your 2 males came from the same location.
It is possible, but without the knowncollection location, one should not put a place name of a fish. The best you can do with your fish is to describe them by color: Yellow (top) and blue (bottom).
Your Collegue is a very lucky person!! Still prefer the other, but they are all stunning!!
Although not a wild, I had a Beauty of a Sunburst Orange but i recently lost him to Camellanus worms!! Eventually lost the female and 3 fry too!! Truly Gutted!! Finally got them under control now though hopefully??
I really hope my wilds are the blue variety when they arrive! They are a fresh break from all the Reds and Oranges around!!
@Mike... Thanx a million for all your shared knowledge on this site, although I'm fairly new to Apisto's, I've already learnt so much from you and others here!!
