Cacatuoides is the easier of the two, but that doesnt mean that agassizi are difficult-they arent. Soft water, ph around 6.5 Temp at 80. Use tanks bigger than 10gals and you should have no problems.
I've succesfully bred Cacatouides in PH 7.0, moderately hard water.
Feed plenty of nutrient rich food to induce spawning (live foods, or frozen daphnia, brine shrimp, bloodworm. Don't feed bloodworm too often though as I have found this to cause problems in Male Cacs).
Plenty of bogwood and hiding areas, and a selection of caves.
I would also suggest the use of alder cones, or oak/almond leaves. The tannins do soften the water, and the decomposing leaves present some infusoria for the fry to feed upon.
I think you need to get the water right before anything else. Even my commercial strain agassizii wouldn't breed untill the water PH was lowered down to PH6, so soft and acidic. The cacatuoides I have bred were fine in tap water PH7.6.
