Are they polygamus or monogamus?

Hopefully monogamus - Neil sold me a pair! They are in my 10 gallon bb and are doing well.

I've kept them in pairs and trio's with decent success. Below are link to a couple pics that I hastily snapped one morning. Such debauchery. Everyone was worked up evidently. I couldn't get a pic of the third female that was jumping in on occassion.

Those are some great pics. Amazing that they are not at each others throats (females). Was some kind of aphrodisiac involved?

Yes they are polygamus, but will fair very well in a monogamous (male, mother, family) as well situation given their mild-mannered dispositions.

I started with a pair and the male died a few days after I had them home, I finally made it back to the lfs and picked up another male. When I got him in the tank, it didn't look like the welcome wagon came out to greet him. She has been chasing him and nipping at him every chance she gets. I have terra cotta pots and java moss in to break line of sight up, but she's still pretty rough on him. Is this normal borellii behaviour?

I tossed in a pair of lemon tetras at noon today and when I came home the female borellii has turned yellow. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. The borellii are still pretty quarelsome.

She has her territory now and he has to show her what he is made of! If he wants to spawn with her, he will have to be fish enough to whether the storm. I think she is just testing his merit as a mate.
