For the membership we produce a professional magazine called Cichlidae 6 times per year, this 28 page glossy, full colour magazine is packed with articles and research reviews from the worlds top cichlid experts, I’m not ashamed to name drop and we have articles from such greats as Ad Konings (Rift valley), Juan Miguel Artigas Azas (Central American), Anton Lamboj (West African), Uwe Römer (South American) and many, many more. We also encourage the membership to write articles and as an incentive we offer the Blackshark award to the years best author. This gives the winner a £40 voucher to be spent in BCA sales.
We also hold two conventions a year that move round the country to try and make the location fair to as wide a distribution of members as possible, these conventions have several expert speakers on a wide range of subjects and possibly one of the best and largest cichlid auctions in the country. In these auctions you will find very rare, wild and domestic bred species of cichlid from all over the globe that cannot be found in your local shop. As a committee we are constantly looking for ways to improve and you can expect these conventions to grow larger as the years pass.
We are also dedicated to attending as many fish-keeping events as possible with the BCA stand to further the group and cichlid hobby. You’re welcome to attend and help out if you so wish. This year has been very successful and the BCA are widely known and respected as the leading cichlid group in the UK.
