Barlowi ID - male or female??

I purchased 2 Barlowi pairs. The were fine in the shipping bag but once they were free in the tank, the two males were in a constant lip lock. Ten minutes of this and I separated the 2 pair.

One pair is fine.

I end up losing, what I thought was the male in the other pair. The remaining fish which I took for the female was very aggressive and chased the deceased one around constantly.

This is a pic of the remaining fish. Is it a female? If it is a female should I place it in the same tank with the remaining pair or should I purchase another male?

Yes, this is the same fish. Yesterday it was a light yellowish color with a blk spot and today it is gray with darker markings. There is only one Apisto in the tank so this is no mistake.

That Barlowi is a female, i dont know what your setup is so cannot advise what to do, how large are your tanks? are you putting them in one large or small tank?? more details are needed.

I have the surviving pair in planted 15G, with some Galaxy rasboras, dwarf chain loaches, Aspidoras pauciradiatus and soon to be moved green neon tetras.

The remaining female is in a planted 20g long with an assortment of peaceful nano fish.

They would be the only apistos in each tank.
