i have a shipment of fish arriving today from dave soares at soft water dwarf cichlids. they were supposed to come yesterday but there was a problem with the truck that was supposed to pick them up. the thing is it has been snowing since last night. i'm really worried that they aren't gonna make it alive. i checked the tracking and last i heard they were on the truck in RI already so everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. if they get here alive in the middle of a winter storm that would be some good luck.

sorry, they are borelli's and panduro's and i have trifasciata and bitaeniata coming next week, weather permitting of course. i'm not sure if this is the right thing to do but after i acclimate new fish i usually add a small amount of daphnia so they can eat when ready but the food won't pollute the tank even if they don't take it for a few days. it works well for me so i figured i would share the idea with anyone interested although i probably am not the first person to think of this.

I'm glad they made it OK :)

It's a very good idea putting in daphnia with the newly arrived fish. They won't die off before being eaten!! I'll try it myself next time I've got fish comming in.

i gave up trying to keep green water indoors. i just give them yeast 1-2 times a day and keep a slow flowing are stone in there. the culture feeds 16 tanks once a day. i just make sure i do about 50% water change daily with tank water and they seem to multiply quickly. i've had the culture about 3 months now.
