Appropriate apisto population for 40g breeder with small Cory school and 1-3 BNP?

Just like the title says. I'm setting up a 40g breeder tank with 20g sump and wondered what I could put in there with a school of ~7 Cory cats and a couple bristle-nose plecos.

I was thinking either two pairs of different species or a trio/quad harem. Is that too many? Tank will have lots of sight breaks, driftwood, medium density planting, with pencils, hatchets, and maybe a small tetra school for dithers.

Here I go again: a community tank is not a breeding tank. If you want a community tank then don't add breeding groups of cichlids. Once you do expect a lot of aggression and disruption among fish on the bottom.

You can have other fish in the tank but they cannot occupy the same space as I put it in the water column. With some cichlids its okay to have dither fish their purpose is to lessen the aggression within the tank. Having Apisto's which stay on or near the bottom adding cory's and the plecos might be an issue.
