Hello....
Can anyone tell me what the highest PH i can keep apistos at? And what type of apistos and would they thrive?
Also was wondering if i can house them with a pair of Kribensis?

thanks for any info!

I breed kribs and from watching all my kribs I would say apisto mixed with kribs = dead apisto.

My Cacatuoides live happily and spawn in 7.5 with a tds of over 400pp. I use to mix with ro, but I supply a local store with Cacs and the owner asked if I could acclimatise fry to their water witch is same out tap as my tap, so I started to raise the ratio towards pure tap as fry grew and to my surprise I had some of the eldest fish spawn and hatch fry so I've kept them and now spawn them in pure tap. Maybe coincidental, but interestingly I've noticed fin extensions on the males seem longer on fish reared in soft water. This may of been coincidence or genetic to particular fry and parents, but I'd be interested to hear what others think if this?
I can not comment on Apistos with Kribs, never kept them together, but I'd be surprised if a fully grown male Cacatuoides couldn't hold his own but females are pretty small in comparison. Size of tank would be very important as to wether I'd even consider it!

Ade.

Cacatuoides are almost bullet proof. I keep them in about 7.2 PH or basically what comes out of the tap from Lake Erie. The same with agazizzi double reds. But my Alto Tapiche I keep at 4.5 PH and my sp. Tefe at about 5.5. It all depends on the source water where the fish originate as to where I keep the PH for that specie. I've found the apisto's will tolerate a wide range of PH due to the waters and conditions they live in but when it comes to spawning they tend to get a little more picky with the PH of the water.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
