A new Apisto in my fish room, Wild Apistogramma cf. velifera...
This fish differs from the norm due to an extended lobe in the upper caudal, very much like Dicrossus gladicauda.
There is no sign of a bottom lobe developing despite the fish being fully mature.
First time i have seen A. velifera in the UK...
Mark...

Mark, I once had a male A. iniridae that had one extremely long ray sticking out of the top part of the caudal fin, so it's not totally unique. Most of the species in the velifera-complex and iniridae-group tend to have lyretails anyway. Maybe it's part of the make-up in these closely related species. Beautiful fish, BTW.
