A. sp. Purple is probably A. sp. Pebas (Morado); A. sp. Sunset is probably A. atahualpa. I have seen several different species listed as A. sp. Frank, including A. sp. Pebas (Morado) again & even A. elizabethae. Do not expect it to be A. elizabethae because these fish come from Peru & elizabethae comes from northern Brazil. Without photos it will be hard to say what fish belong to the other names. Each Peruvian exporter uses his own trade names for the fish they export. I have given up trying to keep all of the commercial names straight.

Just thought I'd pipe in. In a recent order from a Peruvian supplier, A. sp. purple turned out to be A. norberti. Of course, that's assuming the company sent what they meant to send.

Ordering Apistos from Peru is always good "fun" (depending on how you see it) because you never know what you'll get. They keep coming up with silly nicknames for the species instead of bothering to ID them correctly. So unless you got stocking space for every species on the list, it's hard to choose which ones to get and which ones to drop. And adding to the "fun" of these imports, the next time you order Apisto "Frank" you might end up getting a completely different species than the first time you ordered Apisto "Frank" :) It's a mess....

We did have A. dolly-pebas recently (we actually still have one female left). Whether they were Morado I have no clue. If only Jody let me do the SA ordering.

Hi Matt

Welcome, good to see you here, and the Pebas were in fact Morado, still have my breeding pair, now if I can just get the eggs to hatch. Infertile every time, will have to lower the pH even more and try that.

Talk to you soon

Woody
