Apistogramma sp. "Matses"

I was wondering if the Apistogramma sp. "Matses" is a rare species of apistogramma and are they hard to find?? PLEASE HELP!

Its certainly not seen in your LFS. Due to the fishes distribution in the Rio Galvez between Rio Yavari and Rio Ucayali, Peru, the fish is not commercially collected. Its only usually collected by enthusiastic hobbyists such as TomC and as a result it is hard to find.

So your saying I got my hands on a rare apistogramma???

Not especially rare in the wild, just in the hobby.

It looks very similar to A. nijsseni. Unless you know how to tell the difference, it can also just be A. nijsseni.
