Apistogramma sp 'kelleri'

Ive managed to find a little time to take a few pictures in the fishroom today, here are my A sp 'kelleri' almost a month after import.. Ive had one unsuccessful spawning and it looks like another is not too far away..

It's the A. cf. sp. "Kelleri" from Rio Jutai, I suppose. (I hope to get some of those the next weekend; when I'll pop over....)

I've read somewhere that the Rio Jutai is not very acid, nor has very black water. May I ask what kind of water you keep them in, Ste?

Yes these are the same fish that Mark has and the same as you will be picking up next week. They are very variable in colouration and many males had no yellow at all in the caudal fin, the red cheek markings were also variable, im pleased with the pair i picked out, they are very attractive fish and after keeping and breeding barlowi for around two years its nice to finally find another fish that could be a mouthbrooder, the jury is out on that until i witness it for myself..

The fish are kept in very soft water, vitually no KH or GH but just enough to stabilise the PH at around 5.5.. They are very happy in this and after watching them earlier i think another spawning is going to come pretty soon.

Mark mentioned that you were coming over and said he would bring you along to meet the chaps, hopefully you will find your way over to mine as im looking forward to meeting you, the kettles always on in my fishroom :wink:..
