Well i am pleased as punch tonight. My wild pair of Apistogramma Nijsseni have suprised me with a lovely batch of fry about 50 strong...

Apistogramma Njisseni was the very first dwarf cichlid i clapped eyes on when i was still a teenager, i saw a stunning picture of a female in full brood colour and swore that one day they would reside in my tank, 12 years later and today is that day!! i have managed to keep and spawn them in less than two months..

Pleased is an understatement and i am very happy to be able to take my own pictures of these stunning fish and share them on here..
These fish will also be the basis of my first breeding article in the BCA journal, Cichlidae...

Yes, beautiful pics. Congratulations! Isn't it amazing how such a seeming small occurance can have us "over the moon" with JOY!

As a long time gardener now, I can still remember the first time I saw a Bleeding Heart blooming in a neighborhood garden. I was seven; I remember simply standing transfixed in place. I know that moment!

Well done Ste. I got a great kick out of breeding this species too with the female's colour, but mine were captive bred, not wilds! Good job mate!

Thanks, they are doing fine..I removed them to their own tank about a fortnight ago. I wanted to make sure i saved a good batch. I now have about 30 fish growing on and doing fine, i just hope the sex ratio is not too bad and i can share them about..The parents spawned again last night so it looks like i will have a few fish to enter into upcoming auctions.
