Now that we're 'fish' friends, can I ask
One of my apisto's has been getting harassed by the other (more colorful) one, and she(??) now is either 'hiding' on top of the moss on top of a bonzai tree or in the back corner behind the temperature cord in the top third of the water. Her colors have become darker...like gray. At first, when she was on the moss, I thought maybe she was spawning (but isn't she too young) or wasn't ready for it (he chases her and flares his top fin). Then I thought he has her completely stressed out and she would die if I didn't take her out of the aquarium. Then she came down from the upper corner and they shimmied their back fins at each other before she swam back up to the corner and he swam away. The aquarium is a 91g Red sea planted aquarium with 7 discus, 5 German electric blue rams, and a school of rummy nose tetras. My aquarium is immaculate, my water parameters in desired range, my temp 84. and there are lots of rocks, live plants, manzanita branches and a bonzai tree with moss on it.
Is this spawning behavior ?
