I have started a new thread on these im not sure if im right in the id the female is showing the anal blotch which i think is a marker that ids them but hoping mike can shread some light on it
To be honest, I need some better photos of both the female and male. I can't see how extensive the pectoral blotch is. The anal blotch is a bit pail for the paratype form of A. alacrine, too.
OK! Based on what I can see in the photos, I would identify the fish as the paratype form of A. alacrina from the RÃo Ortugueza (RÃo Caquetá drainage, Amazon system). The anal blotch on the female is a bit pale for this population but the spot on the upper insertion of the pectoral fin is visible. The male seems to be the paratype form, too, and not the same as the holotype form (from the RÃo Ariari, RÃo Guaviare drainage, Orinoco system). Therefore, I would use the name "A. alacrina (paratype form)". Good find!
