I posted ages ago as I was after advice whether I could put Apisto's into my tank (which I was setting up at the time).

I got a bit of advice so thanks for that !!

I did get a pair of Apisto's in the end and they are very happy in my tank. The male is beautiful and his dorsal fin, and the two fins underneath (sorry can't remember the name) are getting really long and floaty. The female is lovely too - sometimes her colouring gets really yellow and her fins have a lovely subtle orangy tint to them.

In short, thanks for the advice! It was a good decision and they happily co-reside with my firemouth pair and silver-tip tetra (+ cory's oto's and loaches)!

dreamer,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM AGAIN :)

Glad you found fish that you like! I wouldn't be suprised that you got advice that you were probably looking for trouble putting apistos in with Firemouths. But, if it is working, then great. Wouldn't be the first time that something worked that went against the grain.
However, I think that you should make it your job to figure out which species you have, just because you will want to know how to refer to them when you tell us that they are courting and breeding 8O :D .
Good luck,
Neil

They are Apistogramma Agassizi (male has red/orange/gold tail). Getting some digital photo's today - he's gorgoeus. His dorsal and 2 lower fins are so long and streaming, and the female is yellow with horizontal stripe and a reddish/gold tinge to her tail and fins. Sometimes she has a fairly pronounced black spot on her side.

They both chase the firemouth(s) if they get too close which is good as I was worried about the apisto's!
