After a bit more search, is it decided that it may actually be A. sp. Pebas (Morado),?

You are correct. It is A. sp. Pebas Morado. Morado is Spanish for purple.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but can someone explain why Amazon Tropical fish Co has both Apisto. Sp. "Purple" and A. Sp. Pebas Morado on their price list if they are the same thing?

EDIT: Never Mind. They list A. sp. Pebas "Dolly" not Morado

Exporters are usually very creative and capricious when giving names to the unknown species they have for sale. You have to take many of the names given with a grain of salt and hope someone well informed like Mike has already crossed that bridge to get a better idea of what you are likely to get.
This not yet described Purple Apistogramma is a real looker and I hope it soon becomes well established in our hobby. A scientific name may take somewhat longer to be given.
