Apisto ID???

Can someone identify this apisto? Sorry for the bad quality pics.
I think it could be A. borellii, what do you think?

It´s definately not a A.Borellii. I think it is a apistospecies from the regani-group.

Little hard to tell from the pics, but yes, that is what it looks like to me. Oval caudal spot and red area at the end of the lateral line, along with the cheek markings, suggest that you have Steel blue.

Hi,

it's hard to see in that pictures and I don't know the steel blue very much, but I wouldn't exclude Ap. sp. "Wangenflecken" or Ap. resticulosa.
Maybe some more pictures would be good.

If you ask me it's a steel blue or bluehead...not sure where you are located. These fish are EVERYWHERE in Australia. There has been a lot of debate about whether or not they are a pure species or hybrid. Is this the fish?

Interesting is that no-one seems to have ever seen a female of the species...
I would LOVE to get an answer on this one...is it a real species or not and has anyone ever seen a female.
