A. sp. Algodon/Papagei :)
At first I also thought that it was A. sp. Algodon/Papagei. but after looking at pictures from other sites I am not sure, because they look different color. The male has a lot of blue on the head and body and more yellow on the fins compard to what is on the other photos.

There're many variants... anyhow, it is definitely inside the so-called
"Pebas" Complex...

Blueblue is absolutely correct. The tail patch on the pictured fish makes identification relatively easy. A. sp. Papagei even has some very plain colored morphs - one that I think is downright ugly!

blueblue, Mike Wise,
Thanks.
It's a nice apisto. Male about 6.0 cm. SL

There name in the stock-list from Peru was Apistogramma sp. "Perpel".

:) ...seems to be a "translation error" by telephone.
"Perpel" and "Purple" are pronounced nearly the same.

A. sp. "Purple" seems to be a local morph of A. sp. "Pebas".
But the fish on the picture looks more close to A. sp. "Papagei" for me, but could also be a similar but different form than the "true" Papagei. Anyway, it's very hard to keep all these similar forms of the complex around Pebas/Papagei separated.

best regards,
Rolo

Rolo is right. Another name that i could recall is Morado,
see, e.g.,
http://www.rva.ne.jp/apisto/ap_morado.htm

Again, exporters in Peru love to assign different names to
the same/similar fish.

Let's share an interesting story; recently, an importer of this species
in Hong Kong got some new shipments of this kind of "pebas" family
of fish... when i looked at the fish, i told him that it's the "algodon" that
we had for years... that importer laughed at me and said
"let me teach you more and show you sth you have never seen..."
and he showed me the picture and the name of the fish provided by
the exporter.. it's called sth like "A. sp. "aruzl" ... .. . yes, this name
was new to me but NOT the fish...

Finally, after being complained by many customers for using
a stupid name... he used the name i gave him, "algodon", to sell the fish...
So... what a joke it's!!

It can also be that the exporter sends different fishes that go by the same name.
