Apisto eating fry?

Hi everyone,

and yes i do understand that apisto moms might eat their fry, however, does it happen in successions (ie: eating 3 at once) and then enters the cave?

I'm not sure if the mom is trying to put them back into the cave or is she really eating them, the cave is too dark for me to see anything inside..

Any tips or advise will be appreciated! thanks!

Well, females often 'mouth' their fry, either moving them or maybe cleaning them. Usually, when a female starts eating her fry, she eats all of them within a day. If you see the fry over several days it is more likely that she is moving them.

My female Borellii does that every time she has a batch, are these new fry [just out of the cave], if so, she may be moving them back into the group.
