Hi everyone,

I have a tank 70 l with two females and a male...everything seems to be great...24 fry, one week old, eating Artemis....but suddenly, the 24 disaperd without any sign of aggressiveness from the adults....

Any idea what happened?? Do I have to separate the adults from the fry?

Thanks a lot !!

My guess is that they were killed by 1 or more of the adults who wanted to breed. This happens in small tanks. Fry that can't leave the breeding territory do not usually survive. Personally, a 70L tank too small for a trio of cacatuoides.

Welcome to the sight Jose, I use smaller tanks for breeding but I remove the male/all fish from the tank as soon as I see fry brought out, and let the female tend to them. in a tank that small I rarely ever see a pair that is compatible and if you do the next batch of egg's I've seen them do a 180 and the female want to kill everything in the tank. If fry is what you want to try, I would put odd female in another tank, breed the pair again and remove the male when you have fry, have your food for the fry ready, good luck.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
