I just got another 2 cichlids. I hope these are apistogrammas. I need to confirm these are apistogramma cacatuoides. Also what type are they and sex. I am almost sure about the male because of the lyre tail and larger. The female not so sure, but it has a round tail.

Hi there,

You're male is a male Apistogramma bitaeniata. The female I'm not 100% sure but also looks like a sub dominant male A. bitaeniata. Certainly not A. cacatuoides in both cases.

Great, more wrong cichlids! At least they are apistogrammas. Are these rare? Aggressive?

The pic I labeled female is likely a sub male? No way a young female?

oth look quite thin, are they eating ,
watch closely they may need treatmet fro internal parasites

I just got them yesterday. They came from a very good LFS.

They are both male bita from Peru.

bita is a typical species of Apisto which is mildly aggressive...
