I am from New England and relatively new to this. I jut bought some cacatuoides on aquabid.com, and am very happy. however, this seller paid shipping. I am looking for someone with knowledge of some good places to buy nice apistos and Rams without the cot of shipping.

Thanks in advance.

In New England

Hello Dave,
If you find a place in New England can you let me know? I live in Nh and I have not found one as yet. All the Rams that I tend to find don't last except for the Bolivian Ram I have, he seems quite hardy.

Hello Dave and Diane,

Do you know of Uncle Ned's Fish Factory in Millis, Mass.? I've not been to the shop personally, but I've known Ned Bowers on and off for some years and have purchased quality fish from him before. Here's a link to his web site:

Good luck!

I actually went to Neds this week, and bought 1 female krib and a male Blue Ram to go with a female ram I bought in Manchester, CT at Aquatic Wildlife. Aquatic Wildlife actually have nice rams, and equal male to female, which I have heard is an issue sometimes with stores carrying mostly or all males. Now if I could only find a quality male Krib for my female I would be all set. I hear how common kribs are yet many stores dont seem to carry them. Or I am not looking in the right stores...lol

This is a second for Uncle Ned's. I have been frustrated up here in the the central Vt. and NH area. Thought maybe the prevalence of hard well water accounted for the leaning to rift lake cichlids that i have seen in LFS. I found Uncle Ned himself to be a really dedicated fish guy, reminded me in some ways of Ocean Aquarium in SF, not the visual set up of the tanks, but dealing with real people who know and care about aquaria and know apistos. Worth a trip. He is in Millis, SW of Boston, about 6 miles off of 495. And he will ship. I got my A. agassizii from him.
