Hi Everybody

I have always loved dwarf cichlids and got my first Bolivian Rams this summer. I don't know if I have a couple, 2 males, or 2 females. I hope someone here will be able to help me with that.

Just wanted to say Hi and let you know I will post my questions later on  .

Hi and welcome aboard! I like Bolivian rams - nice fish. Males have filaments on their dorsal and caudal fins when they're mature. The males are also larger than the females.

If you had a picture, it would be easier, but hopefully the above will help.

Does your duo hang out together a lot? Nip sides and shimmy up to each other? My pair used to do that a lot.

Thanks for the nice Welcome Eric.

Both fish have that long filament on the botom part of their tail only (I posted a picture of one of my fish in the Gallery section). They both look the same to me so I am assuming I have 2 males or 2 females. They do not hang out together that much. One stays behind a piece of wood and the other one stays near a teracota pot and keeps nipping at my Blood Parrot Cichlids hahaha  . They don't seem to enjoy each other's company that much.

Ooh, just saw the pic. That's a male, and if the other looks like that it's a male, too.

That's funny about the one nipping at the blood parrot...they can be assertive for their small size.
