First this rarely seen fish circles the female who is in place in her breeding cave and is in the process of laying eggs, she has already blocked some of the entrance with sand rendering it impassable to the male!

The Male gets closer and weighs up his options!!

A quick glance in and the male and female make some kind of signal, difficult to see by a mere human being sat waiting with a camera!!

The Male swims slightly forward and lines up his vent with the entrance to the spawning cave.

Finally he curves his body slightly and injects a squirt of milt into the cave entrance! its now assumed that this fertilises the eggs on the ceiling of the cave.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
