A. sp. Putzer: All photos show the same fish in different mood;
it is already 3.5cm long. Do you think it is a female or male fish?

It probably is too young to tell. Both sexes have cross stripes in the tail. Like most pertensis-group species, females do not have much black in the ventral fins.

Thanks much Mike. Actually, this fish is quite big (if it's a female), i said it's 3.5cm while it's probably near 4cm... male fish of the same batch in this size already got the distinct lyrate tail...

Just one more question: The cheek of this fish has a lot of red markings (it's also why i bought it). Will female putzer have this kind of feature (this feature is usual in male)??

Hmm. I have never heard of females having the red Cutthroat/Blutkehl markings, only males.

Thanks Mike. Actually, me, too... while taken away this feature, this fish
has ALL the features of a female fish... anyhow, let's wait and see what
will happen
