farm41,
He has a fairly new species in a fairly new species-group (or more likely complex), so you aren't going to find a ton of information on them. I think that Julio Melgar might have a pic on his old web site. It is in the links section of A.com- Acurio Nanay.
It is thought to be in the rotpunct group of Apistogramma, but I am not too sure if I agree with that. I have actually considered them the staple for the pebas complex, which includes several new, similar species. It is very similar to sp."Morado" and is considered the same fish by some. But it is not IMO. It is also very similar to the Algodon species, papagei and Algodon II. All of these fish are very nice looking, but very aggressive and fairly tough to work with. You can get an idea about my experience with this type of fish by reading an article on sp."papagei" http://www.apistogramma.com/adm2000.htm. I haven't found them to be quite as difficult or mean as papgei, but they are not mellow apistos either.
They require soft, acidic water for spawning, but do fine in tap for general husbandry. They are a worthwhile apisto, if you manage their aggression carefully. Good luck.

Apistogramma sp. Pebas

Apistogramma sp. Pebas, along with A. sp. Papagei comprise the Apistogramma Pebas species complex. This complex is part of the A. regani group, according to Koslowski. Really pretty little fish.
