First spawn in my tap water was unsuccessful, so I lowered the pH with peat. A week later, my female is on eggs again, and the deepest yellow I’ve ever seen in my apistos. I’m not sure if it’s the tint of the water or an actual color difference, but I’m used to seeing more of a lemon yellow in the brood dress. Now there’s more orange to the yellow, almost a bit of red at the anterior.

Update: Today there are fry! Not many, but it's the first successful spawn. Obviously, there are not many data points, but the conditions in this case were about pH 7.1, TDS 86. I don't know if pH affects the hatch rate, but I will continue to water change with peat-treated water, which can get the pH down as low as 6.5, which is what these fish were originally bred at.

I could be wrong but ph might impact sex (this is from reading not first hand experience).

Yes, pH and temp are both thought to affect sex ratios through the beginning stages of development.
