A male huascar that i have kept some a few months.
It's one of my favourites now... it is a wild caught fish
but it is not as handsome as now when i first acquired it
(trust me that many of you won't even consider buying it
when you look at its original appearance a few months ago);
while its well-developed finnage now makes me feel
very proud of myself... :)
Moreover, it has given me a lot of small huascars, hehhee :)

very nice pictures bleu bleu!

are these apistogramma atualpa "sunrise"?

Yes, A. huascar = A. sp. "Sunrise" (USA) = A. sp. "Sunpin" (Europe),
there're other names used by the Peruian exporters,
e.g., A. sp. "Valentino"... also refer to this species.

How do you get such wonderful pics of your fish!?!?! My Melgar just takes off as soon as he sees the camera, no matter how much time I take! Do you light up the corner of the tank and not use a flash?

I am actually not a trained photographer and there're many professionals
in the apisto hobby in Hong Kong that they take extremely good photos. Luckily, not many of them can communicate in good english and hence most of them do not appear here (or else my photos will be compared down!! hehe...)

For me, in most cases, with my non-specialized digital camera, i have to use flash or else the photos won't be clear... so, many of my fish are actually even more beautiful than the photos' :)
