Just wanted to share some pics. If you look closely the mother is guarding fry currently. I've had them about 3 weeks now, from the wild.

I'll get a few later, but it looks ugly now as I had to add a divider. The male ate the first batch of eggs, and ate 10 of my free swimmers from the second batch. Used to look much better

The male certainly has an odd caudal pattern; nothing like what we see on wild specimens elsewhere. Same for the female with the black dorsal blotch.

Mike I believe both are due to the black spots from the disease wild apistogramma are known to sometimes get. I believe it is somehow avian related? I can't recall as I have read very little on it.

And culprit, thanks. They are already trying to breed again through the divider. The female has been brushing her belly up against him through the divider since this morning. I'll be interested to see what happens.
