In mid September, I purchased two wild pair of apistos. I posted for some help here on this site and Mike Wise was generous enough to offer his assistance in correcting the identification to A. eunotus (Orangeschwanz).
Today, I found a bright beautiful female guarding over 30 fry. I am ecstatic. If it were not for the identification help, I would have been keeping these fish in conditions that were not their native conditions. They may have died, or just not spawned; either way, it could have been a detriment desire to keep apistos. It turned out different though, and thanks to this site, my desire to expand on my apisto keeping is growing. Thank you.
My digital camera is broke, so all you get for today is a pic from my camera phone, which doesn't show much but the female in full dress and a couple of "spots" behind her which are a few fry.
Thanks again.
