Plecos... Possibly something they use in that subset of the hobby exclusively, but I would have seen sth. like that somewhere at least.
Well if you read more of the text he uses it with other things anyway i'd focus more on the design high and low points then what some crappy fish might have been used with it.

Small update…
I just added a bit more leaflitter to the tank.
I still need to catch one atahualpa fry. Last time I tried my fish trap, the greedy male got trapped and spend a whole evening gasping for air in his hideout.
Here is a few crappy phone pictures of the tank.

Hey all!
Small question… do you think atahualpas would eat morse code tetras for breakfast? I have just spotted them on a list.
I know there is always the chance of “if it’s small enough for the mouth i can get eaten”.

I've not kept atahualpas but i have kept morse code with other species. morse code behave much like ember tetra and are of similar size when fully grown - i would say they are a little higher in the water column then ember. So if you want to test you could try some embers ;)

You only need to look at the teeth on A. atahualpa (big, sharp ... and green). This is the fish that Dr Römer called "man-eater" because they would attack his hand whenever he put it in the tank. I've never kept the tetra so I can't recommend one way or the other, but I would error on the side of caution. If you really want to keep the tetras then get a nice nanotank for them.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
