Ill be transferring my 2 young apistogramma macmasteri along with my neon tetra, corydoras and cherry barbs to my empty 75 gallon along with my plants. They're still pretty young and unable to determine sex as of now. But would I be able to add more or different types of apistogramma to the tank?

I'm pretty sure this has been asked, but I'm new to the forum.

I wouldn't. In contrast to e.g. Malawi cichlids and Central American cichlids dwarf cichlids are not that easy to combine, especially not if there are females in the mix. These fish tend to stick predominantly to the bottom, and rarely go above the middle line of the height of a tank unless food is involved. Any open areas that can be overlooked will be claimed as territory by a single fish, so without proper structure offering breaks of sight, I wouldn't add any more dwarf cichlids. And structure the tank well (barriers have to be glass to glass and the fish should not be able to look, let alone move, underneath it and look around it. As for height, 15cm average usually suffice.

We still have a search function. ;)
Appreciate the info. Give me some time to work the search lol. Just joined today and trying to get used to the forum.

I'll stick with the 2 macmasteri for sure then and just a bunch more barbs and tetra. Thank you pal.

iF you have male and female there will be problems with the cory and any other fish that stay in the lower 4 or 5 inches of water - so hopefully you have two males. Also they might go after the neon tetra if they enter lower waters....

I understand. It's hard to say sex right now. They're about an inch maybe inch and a quarter. For now they're all doing good (apistos, tetra, corys, and cherry barbs) in the 40

All I will say is enjoy the aquarium. You should have no problems unless breeding occurs. Then problems will probably occur.
Agree.

You should have a second tank to separate them at any time, then there is no problem.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
