    substrate for apistos

'Africana' seems to break down at a similar rate to 'Amazonia'. I didn't get it the other way round 'Africana' does keep the ph lower. Amazonia is much better for growing plants though. I personally have not tried the 'Malaya' as I find that the 'Africana' good enough with my tap water for...

    substrate for apistos

ADA aquasoil really makes keeping and breeding these apistos easier. For species that require lower ph get the Africana instead of the Amazonia.

    Ivanacara adoketa pair or not?

I find that 2 can easily end up as 0 the hard way. They fight really viciously and lock lips and tore each other to shreds.

    Apistogramma cf. resticulosa/urteagai

Always nice to see dwarf cichlids guarding their fry. Is that moss in the tank?

    Apistofry sick of brineshrimps?

I've actually raised quite a few generations of elizabethae. The batch that had this occuring was raised on mainly decap brineshrimp eggs and was doing rather well. This happened after I got my brineshrimp hatchery dish to start working. No cysts or egg shells were fed to the fry at all.

    Apistofry sick of brineshrimps?

Hi, I lost quite a few Apisto elizabethae fry roughly the same way too and I feel that in my case I probably overfed them.

    Marina breeding box

I am currently using very similar breeding box from another brand more commonly available in my country. They look EXACTLY the same as the marina ones, down to the small details. I do a variation of what you plan to do. I only move the fry to these breeder boxes after they are around 2-3 weeks...

Wondering what apisto hybrids people have come accross

I'm an asian hobbyist but I do not understand as well. I do admit I have a soft spot for the fire red variant of agassizii, but definitely not hybrids. However one of the most commonly seen and cheapest apisto one can get in my country is the sp. steel blue.

Apistogramma Agassizi Flame Red aka Fire Red Question

Thanks ste12000. Wonderful fish wished I could get my hands on some of those! I've attached 2 pictures of the fish taken just out of the bag around 2wks ago. Sorry for the lousy pics. It's been a long time since my last pair of agassizii. I guess the elongated fins also point to it...

Apistogramma Agassizi Flame Red aka Fire Red Question

Hi sorry to hijack the thread. Just wondering does anyone have a clear picture of an agassizii fire red female. My female is turning out to have quite a bit of colours on her fins and I think she might be a sneaker male. She is more "roundish" compared to the male though and definitely not as...

Hi blueblue, I saw your posts on AQ and some other forums too! Did you use RO water for these lovely cichlids too?

    Ivanacara adoketa

Thanks for the advice! I hope they do get more bold. The tank is actually the main display tank in the living but my mom often asks me whether the tank is empty! (she does all of the feeding on weekdays as I actually stay in the campus hostel and go home only on weekends)

    Ivanacara adoketa

To be honest I've not been actively checking values for my tanks for quite a while(I know I should). With ADA africana soil and some ketapang leaves i've been able to breed apisto elizabethae with water from my tap. This time round I also placed a bag of sera super peat in the filter. Also the...

    Ivanacara adoketa

Hi, I'm currently keeping a pair of adoketas in a 3ft tank (around 32gallons i think) with just 2 Nannostomus eques and 2 three-lined pencilfishes. The substrate I'm using is ADA Africana. I've placed lots of driftwoods and ketapang leaves. However I find that the pair is quite shy and always...

    Wild Cacatuoides..

After seeing your beautiful fishes I just couldn't help it and grabbed a pair of these myself. However my fish are still young and I'm really lousy at photographing fish. Would love to get any tips on breeding these. Are they as easy as the bred variants?

    A.uaupesi, A.sp "rotkeil" & A.sp "blutkehl" the same?

Thanks a lot for the answer. So blutkehl is a different undescribed species whereas rotkeil is a variant of A.uaupesi?
