i have a cracking pair of the above apistos which have now spawned 3 times. however each time the eggs have gone, i assume that the female has eaten them.
they are in a 60cm tank by themselves with a PH of 6.
both are in excellent condition and are fed on frozen bloodworm and cyclops...
probably because apistos are big in germany!
i have a male and did have 2 females, he killed them both within a week. i was sold mine as blue apistos which isnt very comprehensive.
plecs are very powerful fish and would not worry about trying to get at your cacatouides eggs, ensure a small entrance to your caves and maybe weigh them down
a useless piece of information for you, some members of the family loricariidae eat these freshwater sponges. cant tell you what ones though, i'll try and find out
hmm, thanks for all your thoughts. very interesting. i think i can rule out borelli as they were also for sale in the lfs and looked nothing like these.
i know im clutching at straws here but would a pic of a female help?
i was sold this as a blue apisto, (very vague i know) could anyone shed some light on its true id please
