    Trifiscata information

    Easy to breed but smaller spawns than the other species you mention. Also less aggressive than those species..I have two different strains one shows more red and one more blue..These are both aquarium developed strains.

    Is sex ratio determined by temperature of egg development in all apisto species? I get lots of females in cooler temps with caucatoides. I was wondering if apistos thru out their range from northern Columbia and Venezuela to the extreme in southern Bolivia ,Uruguay etc all have the same...

    I agree the females are difficult to find.I have imported boxes of Dario Dario in lots of 200 and received about ten percent females. I have bred them and found that to maximize females they need to be grown out separaratly from the males .males grow faster and out compete females for food.

    West Africans in pond

    Every year I put out different fish in my300gal pond. I put in trios of pelvic taeniatus , silviae and lucausi this year . I and found the male silviae dead.Do you think the other males might breed with them and produce hybrids? I empty the pond in mid October and don’t know what comes out...
