Extremely nice fish, especially the pentacle. I am inspired. I have never seen a pentacle, so thanks for posting. I don't see many pictures of colorful females, but here is my quad female emale.
Interesting on the later bloomers. One thought was to see how they develop and if I like them better than the two males in there, I will switch them out later. I am new to apistos so I don't have the eye for judging the best characteristics.
I figure it cannot hurt to have the divider, so I...
I have two more males to take out of one of my breeding tanks to leave two pairs. Before I do, I need some input.
I had taken three males out of another tank and put them in my community tank. Two others from that group have their own tanks (with females) and have fully grown out and look...
The wisest of the Wise answers in probably the most obvious one, get rid of them. I will check and see if the LFS was able to sell the single males I gave them. The other fish stores do not take in fish for sell or credit. Real bummer......
Okay, so it appears I have two females as I now have fry on both ends of the tank. I think I have 4 males and two females. The two other males are caught in the cross fire and hiding in the middle of the tank. Thank goodness I have a lot of plants and driftwood.
My question, I have three...
Thanks. A lot fun when you see the fry swimming around......
What kind of filter do you have? I want one that has adjustable flow and is quiet. As far as the intake I put a round filter sponge over it to protect the fry. It already has a hole in the middle so I just slide it over the...
Congrats Dan.! I now have three spawns. Two are in my main tank with swimming groups on the opposite ends of the tank. I need to pull the two other males as they are caught in the middle of the madness, but don't have a good home for them at the moment. If not, the fry will probably not...
I have two A. cacatu pairs that now have batches of fry. The ones in a 15G long tank just have the parents only and the fry are swimming around and seem to be doing well. Female and male are getting along. In the 30G (48x12x12) long tank I think I have five males and one female (plan was 2...
Good to know, thanks guys. She mated up with the nicest male so let's see how her first brood goes. They both have taken over the right side of the tank and the others have always hung out on the left so my fingers are crossed. What are the odds the first batch work out? Probably not real...
They are never in the LFS where I live and have only seen them once in my travels. For such a popular fish they can be hard to find. The internet will probobably be your best bet.
Before I put my fish in their new tank I had dropped a couple of female guppies in for a month or so. The day I took them out and put the caca's in I see a dozen or so fry swimming around. The look like a bunch of nats darting around, but the caca show no interest. I was thing they would be...
